Determination: Stay The Course
Determination is the firmness of purpose that allows someone to continue working toward a goal despite difficulty, delay, or opposition.
Definition of the Word
Determination is a quality that makes someone continue to pursue achievement of something that is difficult.
Practical Lesson
Often in life, we discover that accomplishing achievements, reaching goals, and making progress are not as easy as we initially thought. It is during these moments that people who lack determination often throw in the towel.
Yes, the circumstances may be rough, the situation may seem unbearable, and times may feel hard. However, determination does not allow you to give up. It pushes you to keep going despite how difficult the journey becomes. Determination comes with the reward of being able to say, “I did not give up.”
Practical Application
Think about one area of your life where you have been tempted to give up. It may be a goal you are trying to reach, a habit you are trying to change, or something you have been working toward for a long time.
Instead of focusing on how far you have to go, take a moment to recognize how far you have already come. Then decide on one step you can take today that will move you closer to your goal.
Determination is not always shown through big actions. Sometimes it is simply choosing to try again, make another attempt, or continue even when progress feels slow.
Spiritual Application
In our spiritual lives, determination is necessary because there will be moments when our faith is tested. There may be times when prayers seem unanswered, circumstances do not change, and we feel tired of waiting. However, God calls us to remain faithful.
We may not always understand what He is doing, but we can trust that He is working even when we cannot see it. Spiritual determination means continuing to pray, continuing to believe, and continuing to obey God even when the journey becomes difficult.
Our strength does not come from ourselves alone. God gives us the grace and endurance we need to stay the course.

Carry This With You
The road may be difficult, progress may feel slow, and there may be moments when you feel like giving up. However, determination reminds you that the journey is still worth continuing. Stay the course. You have come too far to give up now.
Prayer
Father, thank You for giving me the strength to continue even when life becomes difficult. Help me not to give up when progress feels slow or when the journey becomes harder than I expected. Give me the determination to keep moving forward and the wisdom to trust Your timing.
When I feel discouraged, remind me that You are with me and that my faithfulness is not in vain. Help me to stay focused, remain committed, and continue doing what You have called me to do. Strengthen my faith and help me stay the course. In Jesus’ name, amen.
